ドクダミの花は、野外便所裏の日陰の花、というイメージだったが、どうしてどうして、可憐で美しい、控えめの美しさでもない、堂々としたものだ。今が盛んのようだ。
40数年前の社会人成り立ての頃、同僚と麻雀しながら、俺は太陽に向かう向日葵だといったら、違う違う、おめえは便所の裏のドクダミだ、と言われたのを思い出す。麻雀は気後れやへたな同情したら負けなのである。私はギャンブルの才能は全くなかったが彼はあった、彼も社会に出てからは頑張っていたなあ。
